'02 2.3t (I am original owner)front handling with all original front suspension components seemed to be mushy and was going "cReaKkk-cReAkKKK" when traveling over larger speed bumps. My other '02 2.3t with 130k and all original front components (I purchased @ 34k ten years ago) also sounds out the "cReaKkk-cReAkKKK" over speed bumps.
Having been very pleased since 75K miles with Monroe rear shocks on both cars, paid $600 last week for Monroe OEspectrum struts (part#72178), Monroe mounting kits,eEuro bellows&bump stops, installation and alignment in attempt to resolve front end issues on the 9-5 with 118k. After a couple short trips, handling is restored to being sharp and no noise so far when going over speed bumps. Tech shared that one old strut seemed more fatigued than the other and one control arm likely needs new bushing(s). All old parts were returned to me and I see no damage to any of the original bellows, bump stops or mounts so not sure what was causing creaking but guessing it was due to aging of bumps and/or mounts. Will need to ride new struts for a couple of weeks prior to replacing the struts on my other 9-5 to be sure that I want same work done it. I'll provide update after some more miles for those interested.
