The key here is "Little". The 9-5 uses a variable displacement compressor that maintains outlet pressure over a very wide range of refrigerant fill levels, which makes the old way of measuring charge (outlet pressure) sort of useless. And as with many refrigeration systems, overcharge is far worse in terms of stress on the system than undercharge. But first be certain that the problem *is* inadequate cooling from the a/c and not a failed mixing flap control that is sending your ice cold air through the heater core. Of course charge does escape over time - it never "leaks into" the system, so inadequate cooling is almost certainly helped by adding *a little* refrigerant.
That said, the only sure way to fill the system is to empty it first and then add a measured amount of refrigerant.
