detonation is tough on pistons. And GM had Saab put in low friction rings cast pistons on the 95 for better fuel economy. They are not the strongest, and they will tend to burn oil.

Keep your MAF in good running order and clean. That will crack pistons too.

My friends in Colorado report many cracked pistons at altitude because the MAF lets the engine run too lean if the MAF is not clean and working well.

Open SID lets you see what the MAF is doing.

My #1 piston let go in my 2001 Aero at 160k and I put forged Wossners in it and they have been great even with 275 HP.
