Throttle body deposits will not affect partial or WOT flow. Deposits can alter flow behavior at positions near idle. VAC leaks are not so much of an issue at WOT as the small lines probably could not leak enough air to cause severe problems. A leak near zero relative manifold pressure will not flow. At -ve pressures a leak makes things lean and a leak on
+ve pressure makes things lean. The system will try to adapt around minor issues.
However the vac line to the fuel pressure regulator is a different situation. A leak at low throttle positions will run rich and a leak at WOT will run lean. These can be major problems and might throw CEL codes and create very significant running problems.
Plugs need to be pulled to read the deposits, check gaps etc. Blow the plug wells clear of dirt and sand before removing!
At WOT, the voltage required to break down the spark gap goes up and that can lead to ignition problems if a coil is breaking down. If a smaller plug gap or newer plugs with sharp edges runs better, that supports the idea that a coil is weak or breaking down internally.
If the plugs insulator is getting sooty, as the breakdown voltage increases with manifold pressure the path of least resistance can be tracking on the soot instead of sparking the gap. Fuel does not get burnt and plugs get fuel wet and you get more carbon. Drive for a while at sustained highway speeds, some of the soot may burn off. So severity can come and go.
As OP has advised others to use the specified NGK plugs, so I a leaning towards the DIC/IDM if there is no problem with the vac lines. If one has a spare DIC/IDM, this would be the time to install it to see if that resolves the problem.
