Clutch Pedal Squeaks Posted by JohnPeg [Email] (#2376) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JohnPeg) on Thu, 31 Jul 2014 09:15:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Haven't found this detail on this board so I thought I'd add it. Saab 9-5 with manual transmission eventually develops a squeaking clutch pedal. Enough to drive you batty with every movement of the pedal. Pull the panel above the driver's feet to expose the clutch pedal mechanism. There are TWO plastic bushing to steel post connections there. In my case the UPPER (black) one was making the worst of the squeaks, not the lower (white) one which gets all the attention because it's easier to get at. I used Amsoil synthetic grease and it works better for me than the silicone grease that everybody else seems to favor. If you do it correctly you will then be able to hear the squeaking from the rest of the clutch system, but that's for another post sometime.
