Okay, so I'm a little confused. I have removed the stepper motors on both sides of my left hand drive, 2004, Aero, 4 cylinder. I am planning on ordering and replacing the stepper motor shafts with the longer (genuine SAAB - p/n 12765864) version (male) shaft because the ends of the (female) shafts are cracked. Before proceeding, I would like to make sure the shafts are doing their thing by manually manipulating the them, but I don't which shafts do what. (It's difficult to do when you don't always have a helper). On the left side of the car there is a white arm attached to a yellow shaft that I believe opens and closes the blend door. Is that correct? Does this door direct the air flow to defrost or to the floor OR does divert hot air/cold air?
Same thing on the right side except there are two shafts. One is a white arm attached to a blue shaft and the other is a yellow arm with what looks like a yellow shaft. I have read some information regarding how to do this but it is not clear and I have not figured out in my mind how the system functions, with all the flaps, doors, motors, sensors, solenoid valves switches, etc. The bottom line is how do I make sure the shafts are operating correctly and not broken before I proceed?
