The best advice is probably to start a very disciplined saving account as others suggested. . . . and the Odyssey could last well over that 4 to 5 years at your annual mileage.

We are on our 3rd Odyssey - a 2012 bought when our 2004 had a head gasket problem at >250K miles, and I just had knee surgery so I could not do the work. Your 2009 van with under 100K miles is a "spring chicken". I did my own work on our 2004: Timing belt & water pump replaced 2X at 100K mile intervals. Struts and shocks once (ca. 160K miles). Other odd parts but nothing major.

For your 2003 Aero, you will have a hard time doing better for the price - and you know your car. I am currently maintaining a '99 SE 2.3lpt and an '05 Arc for our two daughters. The '99 is showing some rust, but is in good running shape at 219K miles (the motor was a transplant from a MT model and actually has nearly 280K miles). The '05 has 133K miles and I hope will go well over 200K. I have an '05 BMW 325xi bought from a friend - because it was for sale just when I needed a car AND it had a manual transmission. It's nice, but maintenance is more involved than the SAABs, it's smaller, and the insurance is higher.

Sorry for the lengthy digression about my current fleet. By now you realize I don't like car payments either, and 9-5's are pretty nice (safe) cars that look and drive well. Save up so that in 5 years you can buy at least one vehicle outright. And buying even a good used car always seems to have cost me $1000 to $3000 getting everything where I thought it should be.
