Junkyard Find Reignites Key Question Posted by IndianaWolf [Email] (#1478) [Profile/Gallery] (more from IndianaWolf) on Fri, 31 Oct 2014 21:56:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Found a '93 9-5 Aero the other day that had 2 keys; 1 was aftermarket, both had an additional fob. A little research showed the fobs were for a remote starter setup (by Clifford). I don't think they operated the door or trunk locks, but neither do the keys - I think they're just gunked up from not being used. Searching old posts led to looking for the 2nd transmitter tucked away near the ignition antenna ring.
Could this be a possible answer to lost key paranoia? Wire one of your transmitters like this, get a bunch of duplicates dummies cut and lock your second key in the safe deposit box?
For my 9-5, I have one key transmitter that operates all locks and starts the car & the other key will start the car but the transmitter will not operate the locks.
