Nice! I wish mine was that clean Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 05:26:20 In Reply to: Ordered the trim for the shifter 'gate', JonInAtl, Sun, 21 Dec 2014 03:34:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My '08 Aero is painted in the identical color and the wheels are very similar - although I like your wheels better because the larger opening in each spoke will make them easier to clean. A three hundred mile round-trip drive across the state yesterday for a family christmas has mine covered in salt dust right now.
The jalousie replacement is a fussy job rather than a difficult job. Buy the new lamps for the PRNDL indicator, lock switch, and 12V power outlet too. May as well do a preventive replacement of these lamps while you are in the console working.
Look at the "Fix My Saab" website under console lamp replacements for photo instructions on how to disassemble the console trim to access the lamps and jalousie strip. The WIS instructions say to remove the shifter knob (a hidden T5 torx screw) and disconnect some linkage so that the new jalousie will slide down the shaft. Many (most?) of use simply slice through the passenger side trunion post on the jalousie so it will wrap around the shifter during installation. Both halves of the split trunion will be caprive in a groove on the shifter so there should be no long term detriment to this short-cut.
No pun intended.
