not an action. That is because a truly sludged engine has so much accumulated crud on the walls of the head and timing chain cover that a simple "flush" will not get it out. Then every time you put in fresh oil, more will wash off. Other than "hot tanking" the block and head and timing cover, the only sure way is to install Bob Bright's trick oil pan, which has a removable cover right under the oil pickup. This allows you to clean out accumulated sludge as needed. Alas, Bob has passed away, but perhaps Andrews of Princeton has continued having it made. If not, your next best approach is to modify the oil pickup screen so it doesn't get clogged and the sludge particles wind up in the filter. Hopefully they don't do a job on the oil pump.
