Yeah in about 30 seconds after switching the control on it felt like someone was hitting me with a blowtorch about midpoint in my outer left thigh. I promptly shut it off too. Did this for a couple of weeks before it failed. Fuse is not blown. Switched the controls around, nothing. I looked at the seat base heater element on Eeuro and I can see the section where we must have our short in one of the thin strips from the base to the bolster. Take a look at it and you will see the place. Sounds like yours will fail soon like mine did.
Now I gotta figure out how to remove the seat and tear it down without setting off any airbags. I have read in this forum that the seat bases in the front seats are interchangeable L to R. Since it is just me in here 90 percent of the time, maybe this is the way to go. Think the part is about 95.00 from Eeuro. If you type in Saabnet you get another 5% break.
I cant get my old WIS to run on my 64 bit computers, archive search here indicates some folks replaced them, but the old one was tough to remove without destroying the foam cushion. One of our fellow posters just laid the new element over the old one. Did not see any details on how to get the seat out and torn down though. Probably a bit more than removing 4 bolts.
If I do this I will take photos of steps along the way, I have a West Marine hog ring pliers and rings from when I did my sailboat refurb a few years ago, thesse should work to get things back together.
