Well, here is the deal.
You wrote ring in your first post. If with that you mean the brown O-ring you are good to go with seating it on the sensor body and install the sensor in engine block.
But the way I read your post it sounded like one of the after market sensors I have seen where the o-ring is seated on a loose plastic ring which is then pushed onto the sensor body.
Those sensors started to leak oil shortly after installation because the oil was seeping past the sensor body and plastic ring because the o-ring would only seal between the engine block and plastic ring.
