How to remove bolt from torque rod/dog bone?

I'm replacing the motor and transmission mounts on my 5-speed '03 Aero but am baffled by the bolt that holds the transmission end of the dogbone. I thought it would just pull out but the tranny doesn't allow it to come far enough out to free the torque rod. I've wiggled and banged it, etc. Am I missing something? Doesn't seem reasonable to have to remove the whole bracket just to get the rod out. Suggestions? Thanks. And I thought replacing the rear motor mount was going to be the hard part of the job!
