Sometimes I get lucky and get some "old stuff" , which is the "real stuff" , but even in the same order , with the same #'s and packaging , you get different stuff . Pretty wacky indeed !
Look for casting marks / forge stamps that have been ground off with a mini grinder . Today's world seems to have a lot of things that were made in xxxxxx .
My car has parts from at least 30 countries . Some/most are really good parts . Thermostat from Ireland with a French sounding name . Water pump from USA with a British brand name . The GM oil cooler was from Austria , and my Austrian pals claim they are "Superior" I think the O-ring from the turbo outlet tube was from South Africa . The SEM ignition module , Sweden . Belts and brake pads from Canada .
I miss the days when the Saab Parts Manager could "order what you need from Sweden " .....now we order what we want , and see what is delivered !!
R@ck aUt0 has worked well for me ,most of the time .
