You have to understand that there are two functions of the key remote -- one is the radio transmitter that when you push a button sends a radio signal to the car and unlocks the doors. The other function is the transponder, which uses a chip in the key that is read by the transponder receiver that is mounted around the top of the ignition lock cylinder. When the key is placed in the ignition lock the signal is read by the receiver and if it matches the programmed value the key is 'accepted" and then the fuel pump circuit, ignition circuit and started circuit are allowed to function. It would seem to me to be a failure of the receiver - do you have more than one key? if both keys inop, you could swap in the receiver from the 2007. If you have a banana remote, put the key in the ignition and press the unlock button 4 of 5 times and it should allow you to start the car. Good luck!
