2003 Aero on deathbed, what to do

My 2003 Aero, which I've owned since new, has 205k miles and has just developed, for the 3rd time, an oil leak from the rear/passenger side of the engine. The first was at 180k, my records state that the oil pump and timing chain cover and some unmentioned part of the engine block were resealed. Again at 201.5k, an PCV system failure caused a leak, replacing one of the hoses and redoing the valve cover gasket took care of it. This leak also took out the accessory belt, as it got oily and started to come apart.
But, now it's back just a few months later and seems to be in the same vicinity. I caught it right away so the belt hasn't become damaged yet, but my mechanic (Viking in Gaithersburg) says they don't see any good way of addressing the leak short of taking the engine out and going inside, at a considerable expense (ie $2,000+).
We were planning to sell this car this summer when we get my wife a minivan. So, my question is, aside from keeping the oil topped up and a close eye on the belt until we can get a van, what's the best thing to do with this car? Pre-leak I figured it was probably only worth $2,000, tops, but I definitely can't sell it for that now. Any thoughts on what to do with a car that basically runs fine but has a fatal problem?
