I am going to be doing a cooling system overhaul on my 2004 Arc and I would like to know for each part, what mfg is best to go with. My goal is to replace these parts with equal to or better than OEM quality & functionality, and if possible, save money over OEM pricing. Having said that, I want to avoid having to re-do/replace a part in 30K miles but willing to make a tradeoff in price/quality to have it last 70K as opposed to 110K miles (current mileage on the car)
For the water pump – options include OEM, Hepu, Fahren, Airtex, Gates, Valeo, ACDELCO
For the heater control/cooling bypass valve –options include OEM, Febi….Others?
For the water pump – options include Hepu, OE, Fahren, Airtex, Gates, Valeo, ACDELCO
For the thermostat, options include Wahler, Stant, “Original Equipment Supplier”(what ever that is)
Also, what is the standard thermostat temperature? 89 degrees?
Am also interested in hearing what brands to stay away from as well.
Thank you for your help & insight.
Best regards,
John
