maddening no-start 9-5 Posted by rickwtx [Email] (#2273) [Profile/Gallery] (more from rickwtx) on Fri, 31 Jul 2015 13:00:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The short of it (sort of short):
2002 9-5 Aero auto, 76k, well taken care of. Gas mileage started dropping (14avg) 2 months ago so I did new plugs (NGKBCPR7ES), replaced a few vacuum lines, and bypassed the heater core lines (blend door servo is stuck). Started getting random CEL (P1312) but the car was driving pretty well... still had low gas mileage and was a bit slow off the line (compared to our 2003 9-5 Linear)...
Then... one afternoon it decided that it would crawl away from stop lights at about the same pace I walk, until it got to 20mph then it ran normal. When I got home it would not restart. Next day it started and ran normal before deciding 5 days later to not start no matter what. P1312 had also returned so I bought a brand new DIC cassette. Still no start. Unplugged battery for while... No start. Sprayed some Throttle body cleaner into TB - 2nd time I did this I got a small backfire, then 3rd time I sprayed it started right up and ran fine.
So - 2 days later it is running perfectly with no hesitation, smooth idle, starts on first turn of key, no CEL, no warnings on SID... but mileage still sucks (13-16). Its also still a bit slow to take off compared to my stock 2003 Linear (say 25-35% slower)... at least until 20-25 mph...
Before I change the CPS and remove/clean the TB... any ideas? I know the SID is not lying about the reduced gas mileage, checked that manually.
