Can any of you figure out my 2.3t problem (See 7/29 post)? Picked up car last Friday with used catalytic converter installed. Drive one mile and returned to shop due to anemic performance though happy engine kept running. Tech test drove and agreed with anemia and said fuel computer needed to adjust programming and to keep driving it.
Following day I confirmed no codes even though cel was not illuminated since tech told me he read a misfire code and some catalytic converter code when he started diagnostics on 7/31 though no cel then either. Since I had new OEM DIC and spark plugs on hand along with reading on this board that converters typically fail due to bad DICs, I decided to replace these. Sure enough, DIC with 46k on it had 1.5" long crack - just like the last DIC I replaced though that one threw cel. Engine power/turbo power after new dic and plugs much improved but not quite up to normal perkiness. Daughter said car ran great this morning. She then called be from walmart this afternoon saying engine all of a sudden was very sluggish and turbo gage barely goes into yellow. Drove it to shop with new OEM fuel pump I recently purchased now in trunk for shop to install unless they are confident something else is askew. Fuel pump is original with 146k. What ya'll think?
