if the upper radiator hose came off I'd be very diligent about finding out why. It would not just pop off. Consider:
- the upper radiator connection (on the radiator) is plastic and and known failure point. It gets brittle, and cracks. check it carefully, it may be in the process of disintegrating. Mine did recently
- a leaking head gasket can pressurize the cooling system with exhaust gasses causing a hose to pop off.
- thermostat.
And of course with all low coolant situations on a 9-5 its good practice to check:
- coolant bypass valve (consider deleting it)
- the coolant bypass hose, where it exists the head and decreases in diameter. This hose has split at that same spot on every 9-5 I've owned.
