Poor Power again with 2002 2.3t Posted by Brianatl [Email] (#1832) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Brianatl) on Thu, 3 Sep 2015 11:37:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I posted problems about this recently but am really stumped due to following saga: Replacement of Cat converter solved engine cutting off but power was still lacking so replaced plugs and DIC to no avail. Then fuel pump - no change (original lasted 144k). Indy shop said problem was due to bad fuel pressure sensor so that and the fuel filter replaced. Ran like a champ for 350 miles from Atlanta to Oxford, MS but next day, problem returned after start up. Car was necessarily left with daughter in Oxford -no Saab tech there it seems. Power is such that she avoids steep hills having barely made it up one. No CEL has ever displayed during this entire saga and car passed Georgia emissions inspection after cat was replaced. Car was 7/8 full of midgrade gas when problem reappeared and is now half full. I've never had a problem using even regular grade over 13 years of ownership, but mechanic says must be due to bad gas so daughter should add Lucas or similar fuel treatment and only use premium. I've added Techron around every 4-5k miles since 2004 and car had new tranny installed 20k ago. If anyone has experienced such strangeness and found a solution to share I would be very grateful. Cat and fuel pump were installed by former saab dealership which still services saabs.
