Out-of-Sequence Removal of CV Drive Shaft Posted by DnstrDan [Email] (#1361) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DnstrDan) on Sat, 19 Sep 2015 18:21:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
In the middle of a complete front end overhaul of my '99 SE (4 cyl./Auto), only then did my passenger-side inner CV joint boot decide to spring a leak. The strut tower was previously removed from the car for disassembly. The control arm has been removed, the tie rod disconnected, etc. Aside from two heavy bungee cords and a jack stand holding it up, the hub is completely unrestrained. I was able to remove the hub nut after the fact with my impact wrench. But with no way to hold the rotor/hub motionless, I can't apply leverage to break loose the brake caliper bolts.
Looking for a recommendation to proceed: 1) remove drive shaft from transmission per WIS, then tap out outer spline from rotor/hub, 2) refasten hub at strut tower only, then remove caliper and rotor before removing drive shaft, or 3) your call...
TIA.
