My experience, as a customer who sometimes supplies parts to my indy:
1) Due diligence on parts selection: triple-verify that the right part has been ordered: SAAB EPC and/or third-party parts website, aftermarket parts quality reputation, and advance concurrence from the indy. With regards to the latter, I once changed my bushing brand based upon feedback received from my mechanic.
2) Upon delivery and prior to handover to the indy, verify that the parts received match the parts ordered. In the case of generic parts, this can entail some internet sleuthing to corroborate part number cross references.
3) A common practice for indies who install customer supplied parts is to do so without warranty. This is reasonable. When the mechanic sources their own parts, they assume the liability for proper selection. Moreover, they have recourse to go directly to their own supplier when parts they purchase are defective.
DISCLAIMER: I'm a long-standing customer of eEuroparts and will continue to do business with them. For the couple of occasions where I had to return parts, they were very accommodating and polite. Living on the west coast, however, there are other suppliers (Pelican Parts comes to mind) who offer a distinct logistical advantage. I net a three-day savings in ground transportation time by getting my parts shipped from California, instead of waiting for them to travel from the east coast.
