Hi,
I recently purchased a 2008 9-5 sport combi (non-aero) with manual transmission. The car has 160,000km / 100,000 miles. I’ve put 5,000km on it since I purchased it. The car is running just great with one exception:
Sometimes when travelling at very low speeds, for example when pulling up to a stop sign, just as the car is coming to a stop, in the last 6 to 12 inches of movement, with my foot on the clutch, I will feel a sudden vibration or shudder or stumble. It feels for an instant like the engine is about to stall. The idle will drop maybe 100rpm but then it will recover. It only lasts a second or two.
Of course it is intermittent and I can’t seem to detect a pattern or predict when it will happen. On a given day I might drive to work and back including lots of stop and go driving with no issues. The next day it might happen 5 times in a row. Another common occurance is after waiting at a red light. For example if I am turning left at the intersection, when the light turns green and I start to inch my way into the intersection I sometimes feel it, again it is only when driving very very slowly.
I have read other posts suggesting engine mounts, plugs etc but haven’t seen a post describing the exact same symptoms. The car has all new plugs, no error codes, and is otherwise running great. I was thinking it might be the early signs of CV / axle problems but mechanic says everything looks fine, and when they took it for a test drive they didn’t feel anything. So for now I am living with it / waiting for it to get worse.
In the mean-time, any ideas?
Thanks.. Ian
