I suspected a minor transmission fluid leak at the axle, and my mech suggested the same while fixing some other oil leaks on the engine. I declined the repair for the time being. Anyway, the thought of running out of or low on fluid got to me so I decided to have a look. A couple busted knuckles and a cut-down allen key later, I removed the side "level check" plug and lowered the car on the jack to level or actually below level expecting fluid to run out. Nothing. So I assumed it was low or worse. Drained all fluid out and to my surprise there was slightly more than the recommended 1.5 liters in the box.? Flushed and refilled with the red GM fluid from Germany (Genuine Saab). Whats the deal with that side level check not showing it was full? At least now I can somewhat monitor any fluid loss since it doesn't look like motor oil, I hope.
