Maybe.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 17 Nov 2015 03:20:45 In Reply to: Please see link to tranny fluid Spirax Shell 3309, td04, Mon, 16 Nov 2015 20:45:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
As more cars are equipped with transmissions requiring the 3309 fluid it only makes sense that more blenders/manufacturers will offer this fluid. The linked Shell document has some baffling compatibilities but not nearly as bad as some other fluids that claim compatibiity with everything.
3309 is mineral oil based so maybe it isn't a stretch for it to be compatible with Dexron-III, which was dropped as a marketing label in 2005(?) This brochure says that this grade of Shell Spirax is 'Approved' for use in 3309 applications. Assuming that is true then an approval is far stronger than a compatibility.
Caution: It appears that Spirax is the marketing name for all of Shell's recent ATF products - some of which are identified for use in a single manufacturer's transmisisons. Be sure to buy the right grade.
