So it finally happened yesterday, my 2000 5 speed aero wagon passed on. She suffered a "heart attack" after almost two years of being with me and my family. Got her for $600 with a oil leak that the previous owner thought was the main seal come to find it was the head coming off the block. The head bolts coming loose. But I drove it like that the entire time just had to keep up with the oil. About a month after getting the car compression dropped in #2 cylinder but still kept going. Took me on a 700+ mile move from CT to SC with no problem. She took the wife to work and back 5 days a week 120 miles a day no problem, I was the driver cause the wife can't drive stick yet, trip to work is 30 miles one way.
Good news is I'm going to do a heart transplant and bring her back to life. I was able to pick up a new heart for $950 about 2 months ago cause I was expecting this to happen. I was thinking about letting her go with the new heart but the 5 speed wagons are so hard to find and the aero versions are even more scarce. So I will keep her. This will be my first heart transplant so I will take my time. I hope I can get it out without taking out the tranny but if I can't it was worth a try. Can the engine swap be done without removing the transmission?
