ok I just was able to get 5 yrs to the month out of a Duralast, but it's not the battery brand that enabled this feat, I drove this car less in the hot summer months and took to leaving the garage door open after parking on hot summer days, I also rarely use rear defrost or heated seats. A discharge condition begins the sulfation process as does temps in excess of 140 F degrees, which likely happens under the Saab hood when parked after driven on hot summer days.
"Sulfation occurs when a lead acid battery is deprived of a full charge. This is common with starter batteries in cars driven in the city with load-hungry accessories. A motor in idle or at low speed cannot charge the battery sufficiently"
