I have an '01 V-6 with 170k miles. The SAI pump will be commanded on at various times. There is also a OBD diagnostic (P0411) that runs to confirm the SAI system is working; the WIS has the details. If the pump's frozen up because of contamination you'll blow that fuse at engine start when the engine is cold. Disconnect the SAI pump at its pigtail in the engine bay to save on fuses until you can get a replacement. You'll get a CEL but no change in engine performance.
If the pump housing is in good shape you can buy a GM SAI pump (ACDelco #215-610) for about $90. You'll need to tear down the old and new pump, transferring the case and pigtail connector from old to new. It's a 10 minute job. Also, swap brackets.
Since the SAI check valves are expensive and a PITA to replace I just drilled a small drain hole in the bottom of the rubber hose that comes from the pump outlet, right where it meets up with the metal pipe that goes to the check valves. I think I used a 1/8" bit. It's small enough to not bleed much air and large enough to drain the condensate from the line. I used to have to pop the hose off every week to drain a few oz of stuff or I'd pop the P0411 code.
