There are several late ('07 and newer) 9-5 Aeros without two-tone seats.
The shape of the seat is what matters to me. Many say that the two-tone leather was a real step down in quality compared to the leather used on the Aeros through '05. (I think that the Aero name is almost completely absent in '06, though I have seen one or two cars from that year with Aero badges. If they had the sport package in '06, then they were Aero spec, as Gary_g's car is).
I believe that there was a "full leather" or "Natural Leather" option on those later cars, and the seats came in solid colors, but in the same bolster shape as the two-tone seats. (It might be affiliated with the ventilated seat option, though I'm not sure of the details.)
I've always liked the look of the two-tone seats on those late cars, but the leather seems to wear/crease/crack more quickly than on any of the '02-'05 Aero seats.
If the seats don't have the bigger bolsters, then I'd ask what the story is on the seats in the car. Perhaps they were swapped (including the back seat) as you suggested.
Since all the later cars came with the B235R engine, the other tell tale signs of an Aero designation are suspension and seats. (What's easier, putting an Aero badge on the trunk, or swapping seats?) Can you confirm ride height? (Link to photos?)
Cheers,
~Peter
