Hello Saabers,

I haven't posted in a long time. The 2008 SportCombi has been running well aside from the usual wear items. We also have a 2011 9-3 and an 97 900 that is not currently running, just needs a little tlc.

2008 with 112K miles. Bought new and has been serviced well at Saab indy mechanic. Ignition cassette at 60K and new throttle body at 92K. Auto transmission drained and filled at 60K and 112K.

I have had some weird shifts over the last couple weeks. The first incident, the engine was cold, going up hill at 50mph, let off the gas and lightly applied brake, tran went to downshift and it felt like it was slamming violently into gear twice. No CEL, no lights. proceeded to drive and everything went normal.

Couple days later, engine cold, going downhill at 50mph, let off gas to coast, tran downshifted and slammed into gear again, not as hard this time , drove normally after this incident.

I brought the car in the next morning, they checked it out, no stored codes, test drove, could not duplicate, drained and filled tran and I was out the door.

Two days later as I was leaving the neighborhood going approximately 25mph up slight incline it slammed on the upshift. Window was down and I heard a metallic chirp sound. Drove normally after that.

Today I had another hard double slam upshift and shortly after that the battery light started flashing for about one minute while I was at a stoplight, then it stopped. Car drove normally.

I called the mechanic and they suggested I leave it overnight so they could drive the car when it is cold and also have the tech2 hooked up to see if anything spikes while driving.

I've also noticed a slight "clunk" when starting from a full stop at a stop light etc...I attribute that to bad engine and transmission mounts. It's been like that for quite a while.

I'm just curious if anyone has had similar symptoms and what the problem was. Any advice or feedback appreciated.
