Remove the entire cylinder and bench clean it Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 2 Jun 2016 03:05:53 In Reply to: Key still stuck in ignition-options?, Rob Randall, Wed, 1 Jun 2016 19:35:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Dean posted removal instructions in his reply to a dry cylinder below.
Basically you remove the housing surrounding the key by twisting 20 degrees or so clockwise, then lift it off. Disconnect the anti-theft transponder and set housing aside. (note you will need to remove all suplus keys and ring from the ignition key itself first)
Turn key to the ON posiiton, search for a square hole in the aluminum housing which contains the cylinder. the hole will be at about the 4 o'clock position.
Insert the short leg a small allen wrench in this hole, point the leg towards 3 o'clock or so, then pus the allen wrench towards 3 o'clock. This will depress a locking pawl.
The cylinder should pop upwards and you lift it out of the aluminum housing and carry the entire cylinder to your bench for some deep cleaning.
