06 headlight outer cover, removable??

I polished out the outer surface of the headlights, and there is some residue or something on the inner surface preventing me from getting total optical clarity. I thought I would ask before I dig in.
Does that outer clear cover come off by releasing the tabs like the older glass headlights? Or is this a "heat up in an oven" situation to release glue so I can reach the inner surface to polish?
TIA
