Hi friendly Saab folk,
The mid and rear mufflers on my 5 speed manual 2004 9-5 Aero need replacing. I'm told OEM exhausts are no longer available, and if labeled as such, can in reality be made by Walker? In any case, I'd be looking at a round tip rather than the oval OEM tailpipe opening?
I don't really care about esthetics as much as overall performance - I wouldn't want sub-optimal air flow to the turbo. The Saab shop I go to actually put on a 2" tailpipe without asking me what I wanted. I left the car there, looking for options, as I don't think I should be happy with this. Ideas / suggestions?
A performance exhaust system would need a new flex pipe, right? I'd be happy with something that gives a few more HP, but would want to keep things pretty quiet as I do a lot of long highway drives (the standard exhausts on a 2.8 V6 9-3 Aero XWD for example drive me nuts on long drives, too loud and boomy). My car is stock and not beaten on - want to make her last! I have yet to drive a car built after 2012 with any steering feel at all!
Thanks for the advice!
