4 years ago I relegated my 05 Aero wagon to 3rd car duty and bought a 2010 535i with the 6 speed manual, it was the only large sedan I could find with a manual. I miss the seats out of my SAAB they are much more comfortable. The BMW will seat 5 poeple very comfortably, is a much quiter ride and although the steering feels numb it handles well. The brakes are much stronger and more responsive than my SAAB. At 75 on the highway it returns low 30s mpg. I upgraded the engine with a Dinan Stage 2 tune for 378 hp and 415 lb-ft torque so it has plenty of power. I live in upstate NY and put dedicated snows on the car in the winter and have never had an issue, the traction control does a great job and if it is really bad I start off in 2nd gear. To me I don't think the loss of mpgs and weight gain is worth the all wheel drive, but that's my opinion. Cost of maintenance is much higher than the SAAB but I offset a lot of that by doing most of my own work, brakes, oil changes and the like.
