I just went through this last year on my 06 Aero. First sign: warning low ps fluid. No problem after 90,000 miles, just top it off. Good car.

Now $2.50 a quart won't do, we need $20 a quart Pentosin synthetic. No problem.

100 miles later, it needs more fluid, so I know I'm in for writing a big check to resolve this. Took it into my trusted indy for an oil change and didn't say anything about the PS fluid to see if he noticed anything unprompted. Calls me after the oil change and says the high pressure hose has a leak where it's factory mounting allows it to rub against the frame, I think it was a $600 part and three book hours to put in. There are two part aftermarket parts available for less, but he had never used them so we waited a week for genuine SAAB part.

We also discussed pulling the line and have an expert install a new hose with crimped ends, basically taking it to a hydraulic repair shop for heavy equipment, but I said no.

If SAAB were still alive, this would be a recall item.
