Charge Warning Lamp Functional Again (New Alternator) Posted by FredKolb12 [Email] (#46) [Profile/Gallery] (more from FredKolb12) on Mon, 7 Nov 2016 20:10:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Finally got around to replacing my bad alternator. Was just too hot most of the summer to mess with it. New alternator also restored the charge warning lamp to proper operation. Booklet that came with the rebuild from Bosche says a bad alternator will keep the light from passing ignition key test. Have to test by removing the exciter wire from the alternator and grounding the wire. Mine was on so tight, it just turned and the lug had to be removed and a new one crimped onto the wire. There is just not a lot of room to do this repair on the 9-5 V6, but one of our members published a great procedure to replace the alternator.
