I would like to have a TechII - but if I only have an OBDII code reader, this is my choice: <$30 option of a WiFi OBDII adapter and OBD Fusion app for my iPhone (available on Android too).
The Pros:
Price - App prices are $10 for iPhone and $6 for Android, WiFi OBDII adapter (VeePeak) <$20
Portability - Carry the WiFi adapter 'cube' in your glove box or cubby
Ease of Use - Well-thought menus, configurable readouts
Data Logging / Sharing - e-mail CSV data files to yourself or your Indy with ease.
The Cons:
?? Might make it possible to access some things casual user shouldn't
?? It is WiFi, and I don't know what the risks of hacking might be
I purchased this set up because I wanted to log data for 2 to 5 minutes at a time diagnosing LTFT and STFT for my 2005 BMW. I am sharing here because I was impressed with the ease of logging and sharing. My previous code reader has Freeze Frame only available with a set code. OBD Fusion can do that too, but with logging I can choose sensors or PID's, and I can send the data to my e-mail to compare and track on my computer. Recommendations on other boards rated OBD Fusion as best in class, and I have seen why.
If you are looking at OBDII code readers, consider this as an option.
