Bizarre dash light level repair 1 Saabers Like This Post! Posted by Doug W [Email] (#2371) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Doug W) on Wed, 30 Nov 2016 14:21:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I posted before about a strange issue I had with the dash lights going dark randomly. Well, it appears that I've solved the issue.
My son drove the car over some really rough pavement and tore out the outside temperature sensor. Of course the heater responds by going to full hot. I had fixed one wire in the connector before and now I fixed the other wire by splicing in a new piece and applying heat shrink and electrical tape. I tucked the wiring up so that it's really out of the way. This brought the ACC system back on line as I had hoped.
Guess what? The random loss of dash lighting has vanished too! How can fixing the wiring to the outside temperature sensor affect the dash lighting? All I can think is that without the outside temp sensor a data bus that controls heating / cooling, and dash lighting levels will be compromised.
