When you pop the old clip off, the remnants of the nozzle should come right off.
Make sure the old o-ring is removed if it hasn't fallen off. The new o-ring snaps into a groove that goes around the tip on the telescoping tube that the nozzle goes over.
The little clip is a nuisance on the reinstall because it snaps up from underneath.
The cover just snaps over the end of the nozzle; easiest to do that once you are done getting the nozzle attached to the telescope.
You need to take the headlight assembly out -- on my generation car, its very easy to do and gives you lots of room to see what's going on in there.
Good luck
