Hey all,

I have a 99 2.3 LPT AUTO 9-5 with 30000kms and i have used the best Premium fuel from day one (98 RON - Shell Optimax or Synergy 8000) and i have recently just noticed that my engine pings under load from about 2000-3500 rpm , after that engine noise is to loud to hear anything....

I took the car to the dealer last week for its regular oil change and turbo replacement (blue smoke on startup) and told him about the pinging He told me he would look into it. I Go back the next day to pick the car up and he tells me that he connected the car up to TECHII and no error codes were displayed so he dismissed it.

Pinging is clearly not normal and i have no idea what could be causing it with the fuel i am using.My old 9000 NEVER pinged using these fuels and as i said , the pinging has just started within the last few months.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing my engine to ping? or anything i should advise my dealer to do?? Will this damage my engine/performance?
