Despite all of Saab's vaunted safety engineering, the original 9-5 somehow failed its original IIHS crash test when the floor buckled and the "driver dummy" (not to be confused with the dummy drivers who seem to be all around us) suffered a crushed foot and ankle. Had to be a quirk related to the specifics of the IIHS test facility, as it never happened at NHTSA or the European NCAP (new car assessment program) tests, and is something that probably would never occur in a real world crash, but ratings are ratings, so the subframe was redesigned so that would absolutely, positively never happen again. I'm not sure what year the change was made, but an "unintended consequence" of the change was the annoying idle vibration that occurs in cars with 4 cyl a/t.
I would expect that the older subframe would mount up the same as the newer one, and might even be more pleasant if the cars have a/t.
