Sounds like classic bypass valve symptoms (especially the first 2 points). Water pump tends to drip, but not smell as noticeably in the cabin being not as close to the cabin air intake. Heater core would not tend to leave puddles as you describe -- coolant would be trapped in the airbox or drip out the condensate drains
Check the steady lines of liquid to see what they are -- they may be A/C condensate -- when I back out of the garage, I leave a trail of drips as well from the drains that are under the car (roughly beneath the front seats).
Search the board for lots of advice on removing the bypass valve and replacing it with hoses, which many have done quite successfully. Or you can just replace the valve, and it will fail again in a couple of years.
