NOT TIME TO MOVE ON - fix it Posted by saabsince 93b [Email] (#972) [Profile/Gallery] (more from saabsince 93b) on Thu, 18 Jan 2018 09:56:09 In Reply to: Re: Mine squeeks too, Name Left Blank, Wed, 17 Jan 2018 11:58:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
You don't have to move on and abandon your Saab 95 because of the stick shift. You have the opportunity to make it better than new.
I have done a lot of work in this area.
1. you can rebuild the shift mechanism with new ball joints that will not wear out like the OEM plastic balljoints do.
2. The genuinesaab.com short shifter kit is all of $150.00 and replaces the plastic pivot ball with a precise bearing that is even fitted with a grease fitting for lubrication.
3. while you are installing the shifter above you can remove the reverse gear lock out mechanism......that alone is an improvment.
I did all of the above on the 2000 stick read wagon project and the shifting is AWESOME. I have 200,000 miles driving 95 sticks and they really can be great with these easy mods.
I have rebuilt many shifter mechanisms....be happy to help you out. PM me.
