A/C and Engine Power
Posted by Roger (NAWC) (more from Roger (NAWC)) on Wed, 30 May 2018 18:23:28
I picked up a 2008 9-5 wagon last year. It's been pretty good so far, but when I turn on the air conditioning, there’s a small but noticeable loss of power. It’s not too bad, but certainly more than I would expect. What’s particularly annoying is often when I first start off from a stop, in first gear, there’s not much acceleration, then all of a sudden the power kicks in all at once, and I have to ease off the throttle.
Does this mean the compressor is on its way out? Do I just need an r134a recharge? It cools pretty well, with the air fairly cold out of the vents, although the weather hasn't been hot enough to really test it.
Thanks in advance.
