Replacing the idlers, the tensioner and the belt are IMO actually an easier job than that blasted heater bypass valve. You can carry the parts you took off with you, as spares. By all means carry a spare Ignition Cassette, Crankshaft Position Sensor, Oil Pressure Sending Unit and Thermostat with you.
I wouldn't fool with the fuel pump. I have a 2004 9-4 with 225,000 miles that's still on the original fuel pump. Unless you have absolutely immense confidence in your mechanic. I'd be more inclined to recommend replacing the alternator, although I think the 130s actually have longer lives than the 140s. You don't want to replace an alt on a vacation - I've done it and it was no fun at all.
Find a full sized spare; there's plenty of room for it in a Gary Fisher. The donut can be the backup, if you like.
