I use a Hazet impact socket that I got from RM European for about $20. It has a nice blue plastic sleeve over it that extends out slightly from the end of the socket to protect the wheel. It's made in Germany (they used to make the factory tools for BMW back in the '60s), and I doubt I'd ever break the thing. It is only 1/2" drive, but like others have noted, I've never needed anything beefier for a lug bolt. I do have a 3/4" drive handle and socket for loosening the hub nuts, but even for that it's overkill because my 1/2" torque wrench will let me tighten the hub nut to spec. If I ever need more leverage than my 1/2" breaker bar will provide, I slip the handle of my 2 ton jack over the end. That thing's at least 4' long, and there's nothing that thing's added leverage won't let me loosen.
