Search using “Blower:SWEDECAR” and you will find links to diagnostic threads by him and others that will allow you to isolate the failure mode. In my case, it was obvious that the motor brushes had worn out: the outages were intermittent for months beforehand and often temporary remedied by a sharp mechanical shock (road bump, or a pounded fist to the dash) until it failed for good.
