I will be buying new 17" all-season tires in the next 1-2 weeks. 2008 owner's manual recommends 235/45/R17 94W for the 7.5" wide rims. Older owner's manual recommend 225/45/R17 94W with the narrower 7" rims. I am running 17's from a 2001 Aero, so only 7" wide.
First question: which width should I go with for these rims/does it matter?
I was planning on going with the 225 width based on opinions of people here, however the tire model I plan on purchasing only has a load index of 91 for that size, but has a load rating of 94 for the wider size. Typically it's only me in the car with maybe 100 pounds of tools.
Second question: how critical is the load rating in this scenario?
