Last year my 2000 v6 with over 275k miles had to get tested . Here in Washington State they hook up an OBD2 reader with the car idling . No more tailpipe and dyno testing . So at the time my old car got everything under the Swedish Sky to make it pass . Yikes !!! If I had to do it again , I wouldn't . Due to high miles and abuse my car always had code 0420 with a failed and rusted out aftermarket cat . So I installed a Walker cat and downpipe with new Bosch o2 sensors and a fresh air filter , fuel filter, spark plugs, battery, new coolant sensors and dollars and hours and finally the system gave a green light . I passed the test , and a few days later the code 0420 came back . I hear that there is some software out there that might help with Tech 2 , but I still can't get my clone to work . Half of the crowd on this board resent the V6 , and most don't have any V6 experience .
I have been tempted to get one of the aftermarket cats that say higher metal content , but I think many say have a muffler shop put in an oversized cat .
Best of luck !
